Week 4 – Vision and Manipulation

It was fantastic being able to play around with our cameras this week.
Prior to the introductory of photography in this subject, I went out for a night and used my brother’s Digital SLR camera to take some shots around Melbourne. Thought I’d share two of my favourites with you!

This is an image taken of Melbourne’s GPO building. As I am focusing on repetition for my pieces I tried to especially capture the repetition of the arch ways. A shame I didn’t realize it was blurry at the time. Still unsure to whether or not I will use this image for one of my final pieces.

This is an image of the outside of one of the cafes that I work at. I took this shot without using flash because I was once told that taking a photo without flash allows you to elaborate and do a lot more work with it. However this photo came out a bit blurry! But I was still happy with the result. I like the orange-ish colours that can be depicted – it kind of gives the place a rusty feel.

I am planning to go for a day trip and take shots of graffiti art around Melbourne and use these images for one of my final pieces so stay tuned!
